The Student Education Employment Program
SCEP Student Position - Available Immediately
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service office in Columbus, Ohio is looking for an energetic person to assist with a variety of ecologically related duties including: evaluating the impacts of development projects on endangered plant and animal species and their habitats, assisting with the monitoring and recovery activities of endangered plant and animal species, collecting biological and sediment samples for contaminant analyses, development of partnerships with state, local, and non-governmental community organizations, internal and external communication of recommendations which enhance our ability to conserve and protect trust resources, among other duties.
We are seeking highly motivated graduate students for this position -- ideally in the last year of their program but will consider exceptional undergraduate students as well. Relevant technical or biologically related experience is helpful but not absolutely required. The position will be part of the Service’s Student Career Experience Program – similar to what is commonly referred to as a Coop Student position. After successful completion of the program requirements, the candidate may be eligible for noncompetitive placement as a Service employee.
