South Globe NEPA
Final Environmental Assessment for
South Globe Wetland Restoration on
Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge, Fulton County, Illinois
The final Environmental Assessment (EA) was approved on June 30, 2003 when the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was signed. The EA considered three alternatives for managing a 604 acre currently drained wetland that is part of the Illinois River floodplain. The Proposed Alternative was selected which is to construct a berm to restore the wetland with a water depth of approximately 1-3 feet. The wetland is intended as a mid-migration stopping point on the Mississippi Flyway for the intended use of migratory birds during the fall and spring migration.Provided below is a copy of the FONSI, final EA and associated attachments. Printed copies of the document may be obtained from the refuge headquarters, Illinois River NW & RF's, 19031 East County Road 2110N, Havana, Illinois 62644; telephone (309)535-2290.
