Beaver Dam NEPA
Final Environmental Assessment for
Beaver Dam State Park Land Trade
and Construction of a Sewage Treatment Facility,
Macoupin County, Illinois
The final Environmental Assessment (EA) was approved on May 27, 2003 when the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was signed. The EA considered four alternatives with regard to current sewage disposal problems in the Park. The Preferred Alternative was selected which will transfer Federal interest on approximately ten acres of lands purchased under the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Program to approximately ten acres of land owned by the State of Illinois. A sewage treatment facility will then be constructed on the ten acre parcel originally purchased with Federal funds.
The other three alternatives that were considered are the "No Action" Alternative required for all National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents; purchasing land adjacent to the state park for the construction of the sewage treatment system; and pumping the sewage approximately seven miles to a wastewater treatment plant at Carlinville.
