About the Freshwater Mussels of the Upper Mississippi River System web site

The Freshwater Mussels of the Upper Mississippi River System's web site was created through a partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) , Region 3 and the U.S. Geological Survey's Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (USGS-UMESC). Participants include Gary Wege, Pam Thiel and Mark Steingraber from the USFWS and Teresa Newton, Mike Caucutt, Bob Kratt and Madelon Wise from the USGS-UMESC. Acknowledgements also include Kevin Cummings from the Illinois Natural History Survey and Chris Barnhart, Unio Gallery. Southwest Missouri University.

The web site has a symbiotic relationship with the online field guide created by Kevin Cummings. Text and images of particular species throughout the web site are linked directly to the field guide. Highlights of the Freshwater Mussels of the Upper Mississippi River System's web site include a Multimedia and a Teacher Resources section.
