About the Freshwater Mussels of the Upper Mississippi River System web siteThe Freshwater Mussels of the Upper Mississippi River System's web site was created through a partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) , Region 3 and the U.S. Geological Survey's Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (USGS-UMESC). Participants include Gary Wege, Pam Thiel and Mark Steingraber from the USFWS and Teresa Newton, Mike Caucutt, Bob Kratt and Madelon Wise from the USGS-UMESC. Acknowledgements also include Kevin Cummings from the Illinois Natural History Survey and Chris Barnhart, Unio Gallery. Southwest Missouri University. The web site has a symbiotic relationship with the online field guide created by Kevin Cummings. Text and images of particular species throughout the web site are linked directly to the field guide.
