Achievements
Sharing Your World with Wildlife
5a. Choose a bird or animal that you like and find out how it lives. Make a poster showing what you have learned.
Look for birds out on the Refuge, find one you like, and watch it in its natural environment. Take a song
bird hike on the refuge using our Songbird Trail Pack borrowed from the information desk at the
Bloomington Visitor Center. Some other good places to observe birds and animals
are on the observation deck and in the Visitor Center at the wildlife viewing area. Be quiet and
still so you don’t scare the animals away.
5c. Explain what a wildlife conservation officer does.
Visit Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and interview a visitor services staff to learn about the different roles conservation officers have.
5d. Visit one of the following: Zoo, Nature Center, Aviary, Wildlife refuge, Game preserve.
Come visit one of Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge's Visitor Centers. Attend a public program
or hike the trails. Watch the Minnesota Valley: A Place to Discover orientation video to learn
about Minnesota Valley and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Take Care of Your Planet
6g. Take Part in a den or pack neighborhood clean-up project.
Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is a part of many neighborhoods throughout the Twin Cities.

where your den or pack can do a clean-up on the Refuge.

9. Art
Participate in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Art and Conservation Program. Learn about waterfowl
and wetland habitat conservation while visiting the Visitor Center then articulate your newfound
knowledge by drawing, painting or sketching a picture of a North American waterfowl species. For
