Bald Eagle

Bald eagles are no longer protected under the federal Endangered Species Act and Section 7 consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is no longer necessary. However, the bald eagle remains protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.

Due to the sharp declines in the last several years - especially in Iowa, Minnesota, and possibly also in the Dakotas - the list may include counties in which the species no longer occurs. Nevertheless, we recommend that agencies contact the Rock Island Ecological Services Field Office if undertaking or planning projects that may affect Poweshiek skipperling habitat in these counties.
