Habitat Conservation Plan

Pioneer Trail Wind Farm

The Service has issued a permit to Pioneer Wind Farm, LLC, for the incidental take of Indiana and northern long-eared bats that may occur due to normal operation of their wind energy facility. The Indiana bat is an endangered species and the northern long-eared bat is a threatened species. To receive the permit, the company prepared a Habitat Conservation Plan that identifies how impacts to these species will be avoided, minimized and mitigated.

August 2014 - - Draft Habitat Conservation Plan and Incidental Take Permit for Pioneer Trail Wind Farm

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service received an incidental take permit application, draft habitat conservation plan (HCP), and draft Implementing Agreement from Pioneer Trail Wind Farm, LLC, located in Ford and Iroquois Counties, Illinois. If approved, the permit would authorize incidental take of the Indiana bat, a federally endangered species, and northern long-eared bat, a federally threatened species. To comply with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Service prepared a draft Environmental Assessment to evaluate the impact of issuing the incidental take permit. We invited public comment on the Incidental Take Permit, draft HCP, draft Implementaing Agreement and draft Environmental Assessment during a public comment period. Below is the Federal Register Notice and draft documents that were available for public review and comment.
