Who Are The Friends

Gray Tree FrogThe "Friends of the Cache Watershed" is an organization that promotes natural resource conservation throughout the five county Cache River watershed. The organization focuses on environmental education, resource conservation, management and related issues throughout the Cache Watershed. The organization advocates sustainable agriculture and forestry practices and the restoration of wetlands, bottomland and upland forests.

"Friends of the Cache Watershed" facilitate a common meeting ground for a variety of individuals associated with agriculture business, education, tourism, rural communities, special interest groups, government agencies - all individuals that have an interest in the environment and natural resource protection and restoration. The organization is a valuable asset to the Cache River Watershed and is charged with a variety of responsibilities such as:

  • Implementing the Watershed Resource Plan
       

  • Endorsing plans of the Cache River Wetlands Joint Venture to protect and restore this internationally important resource
       

  • Promoting public use, special events and educational outreach
       

  • Providing local community input to the Conservation C2000 program and other associated conservation programs
       

  • Supporting environmental education efforts in the schools and surrounding communities
       

  • Seeking support and funds for conservation and reforestation programs within the area
       

  • Encouraging active involvement and positive citizen participation in conservation projects on private and public lands
       

Your Invitation

You are invited to become a member of the "Friends of the Cache Watershed." Your participation will support the protection and conservation of the soil, water, air, forests, wetlands and wildlife within the 474,000 acre Cache River Watershed.
