Backyard Bird Feeding Day, December 5, 2009
Do you like to birdwatch? Would like to see more birds in your yard? The staff and Friends of Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge invite you to build a birdfeeder during the first annual Backyard Birdfeeding Day on Saturday, December 5, 2009. This free event is from 9:00 am to noon at the refuge maintenance building. Door prizes will be given away and refreshments served. Central Lakes College Natural Resources Club, Brainerd, joins the Friends and the refuge as financial supporters for the event. For more information call the refuge: 320-632-1575.
Habitat Day - March 13, 2010
In March, Crane Meadows holds its annual Habitat Day for Wood Ducks and Bluebirds at the refuge to build wood duck and bluebird boxes.

Platte River Cleanup - June 12, 2010
The Friends and staff of Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge along with Royalton Lions will host a Platte River Cleanup Day at Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge oin June 12. This is a day of fun and enjoyment while working to beautify the Platte River and surrounding area. Participants meet at 8:00 a.m. at the refuge shop. Crews will be launching their canoes to clean a 26.5 mile stretch of the Platte River just north of the refuge to the outlet at the Mississippi River. This stretch of the river will be divided into several canoe routes. The upstream sections of the river flow through the Refuge. Participants will have an opportunity to enjoy the river by fishing, bird watching, or just floating along taking in the beautiful sights, scenery and sounds while cleaning it. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided. Those who do not wish to canoe may clean river access points or the road along the refuge. For more information call the refuge: 320-632-1575.
Astronomy – July 10, 2010
Come and enjoy an evening under the stars. University of Minnesota Astronomy Department graduate students will give a short presentation and then provide you the opportunity for viewing through a telescope. If you are interested in learning about astronomy, this is an excellent opportunity. For more information and program start time, call the refuge at 320-632-1575.
Bird Tour - September 18, 2010
Join us for a guided bird tour of Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the Platte River Trail trailhead. Visitors will walk along the trail in search of birds. Members of the Morrison Birding Club will co-host this event, along with the Friends and staff of Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. For more information call the refuge: 320-632-1575.
