Hunting at Boyer Chute

DEER HUNTING

Sixty (60) “free access” Permits are available for deer hunting at Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) for the Special Antlerless Deer hunt (Muzzleloader only), December 15-16, 2007.   Hunters will be allowed to use their Nebraska Season Choice Area 21 deer license or Nebraska statewide Muzzleloader deer license.

Application envelopes will be accepted and held from August 17 – October 1, 2007.  If more than 60 hunters apply, the refuge will draw from the applicants on October 1.  Permits will be sent out after that date.  Hunting will be allowed in designated areas following refuge-specific regulations and Nebraska G&PC regulations and licensing.

Applicants must send a self-addressed, stamped, business-sized envelope to the refuge address above. Please identify the Dec. 15-16 deer hunt on your envelope.

Information about hunting and other public use opportunities at the refuge are available by contacting Boyer Chute NWR, 3720 Rivers Way, Ft. Calhoun, NE 68023, 402-468-4313.

Waterfowl hunting is allowed per state regulations. Special refuge regulations apply.

The hunting area lies along the Missouri River perimeter of the island from the east bank of the chute at the headwaters to the east bank of the chute at the confluence, and landward to the island perimeter trail. Walking access, with weapons cased and unloaded, is allowed from the Headwaters, Main, and Confluence trails for those who don't have boat access.

Check with the Refuge Headquarters for more details or posted regulations at the entrance and Main parking lot kiosks.
