Henry Quinlan, Fishery Biologist
e-mail: henry_quinlan@fws.govHenry Quinlan is the Chief for Lake Superior fishery and aquatic resource activities for our office. He is also the point person for office involvement in Great Lakes fisheries projects. Henry works to address Great Lakes Fishery Commission Lake Superior Fish Community Objectives, particularly those related to lake sturgeon and brook trout rehabilitation, nuisance species, and species diversity. He and his crew conduct fishery assessments and provide fishery management assistance to federal, state and tribal fishery agencies. Henry serves as the U.S. Co-chair of the Binational Program Aquatic Community Committee, chairman of the Lake Superior Technical Committee Lake Sturgeon Work Group, and is one of several coordinators of the Great Lakes Lake Sturgeon Coordination Meetings.

Pam Dryer, Habitat Chief

As the Habitat Chief, Pam leads cooperative conservation efforts throughout the Lake Superior Basin in support of the Great Lakes Basin Habitat Partnership effort under the National Fish Habitat Action Plan. She is also co-chair of the Lake Superior Terrestrial Wildlife Communities Committee for the Binational Program.
Ted Koehler, Fish and Wildlife Biologist
e-mail: ted_koehler@fws.govTed serves as the Upper Great Lakes Program Manager for the Coastal Program - Great Lakes. He leads and coordinates the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program in an 8 county area in northern Wisconsin and regionally coordinates with the Bureau of Indian Affairs on Circle of Flight Program waterfowl and wetland restoration partnerships. Ted manages the Fish Passage Program in the Lake Superior basin. He also is a member of the Terrestrial Wildlife Committee of the Lake Superior Binational Program, leads a waterfowl survey at Whittlesey Creek NWR, provides Tribal fish and wildlife technical assistance, and participates in other fish and wildlife surveys, planning and restoration projects.
Gary Czypinski, Fishery Biologist
e-mail: gary_czypinski@fws.govPlans, coordinates, and provides technical assistance with activities relating to management of aquatic invasive species, which include the following: 1) Achieve the goal of the Ruffe Control Plan, preventing and/or delaying the spread of ruffe in the Great Lakes and inland waters; 2) Senior author of the annual Great Lakes Basin Ruffe Surveillance Report; 3) invasive fish early detection monitoring in the St. Louis River Estuary (Duluth-Superior Harbor), MN/WI; 4) invasive fish early detection/ invasive fish community monitoring in Chequamegon Bay, WI; 5) invasive mussel and snail monitoring in Chequamegon Bay & outlying waters, Lake Superior; 6) collection of aquatic invasive species for research and education purposes; and 7) aquatic invasive species research. Assist with other fish and wildlife projects which include the following: 1) Restoration of coaster brook trout and lake sturgeon; 2) Annual forage fish assessment in Red Lake, Minnesota, in support of walleye management; 3) lake whitefish assessment in eastern Lake Superior used to determine harvest quotas; and 4) annual woodcock survey used to estimate population sizes in northern Wisconsin. Maintains station vehicle and small boat fleet. Station property officer and assistant safety officer.
Glenn Miller, Fishery Biologist
e-mail: glenn_miller@fws.govProvides technical assistance in support of the U.S. v. Michigan Consent Decree of the 1836 Treaty waters of Lake Superior. Collects fishery data to help develop models for total allowable catch for commercial and tribal fishers in the treaty waters. Conducts mussel surveys with partners. Station Fish Passage Program Coordinator and captain of R/V Chub.

The Ashland FWCO welcomes questions or comments about fish and wildlife resources or about the programs of the Fish and Wildlife Service. Members of the staff are available for presentations to schools, civic groups, and others interested in fish and wildlife resources.
