Adopt-A-Moose

Final update for D0982

The "End of the Trail"–sort of: This will be the last of the detailed updates on D0982. We wish to Thank all of our sponsors, schools, and website users for their continued support and interest over the last four years in the Minnesota Moose Mystery.

Where do we go from here? We will continue posting movements of D0982 and B8164 and research updates on the website. Dr. Warren Ballard, renowned moose biologist, has been contracted to summarize the four years of data collected. He received the data last August and has one year to complete analysis. We will continue to monitor moose with active radio collars until the radio transmitter goes off the air or the moose dies; however, we will not be checking the animals as frequently as in the past. If a moose dies we will locate it, take a tooth for aging, and try to determine cause of death and condition of the animal at the time of death.

How long will the Website remain on line? We will leave the site on-line for two years and then evaluate it's user response. At this time, we feel it is still a very valuable site to educators and hope it will continue to be used. Although new information will not be added as frequently as in the past, educators can always go to the site and have new students start "tracking" B8164 or D0982 and research results through the catalogue of updates which begin from the day these animals were first captured.

Again, Thanks for you interest and support....and now click here for the final update.
