Hillside Prairie Restoration This hillside prairie is being restored on the Bill and Melissa Hendrickson property near Gays Millls, thanks to the help of the Prairie Enthusiasts...Gary Eldrud of the SW Wisconsin Chapter of the Prairie Enthusiasts spotted the prairie from a nearby county road and asked the owners if he could look at it. His initial inventory turned up several species of concern, including one endangered species. Through the Prairie Enthusiasts encouragement, the land owners contacted our office for assistance. Work has begun to remove invasive brush and aspen on the site and to reclaim five acres of adjacent prairie/savanna. |
