Fratt Wetland Restoration

The Fratt Partners for Fish and Wildlife project consists of four wetland restoration sites which total two wetland acres. The project took place on previously drained wetland sites that were converted to agricultural production. The wetlands will enhance wildlife habitat on the adjacent uplands as well, and approximately 40 surrounding acres have been positively impacted for wildlife. Shorebirds and other waterfowl utilize the surrounding farm ground and wetland areas throughout the majority of the year, most heavily during the spring and fall migrations. The landowner and family are avid wildlife enthusiasts, and report songbirds, shorebirds, bluewing teal and mallards are utilizing the project area.

In addition to the landowner, partners which contributed to the success of the project were Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge and the Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas and Iron County Land Conservation District.
