The District Headquarters & Wings on the Prairie Discover Center is located one and a half miles east of the Hightway 60 and County Road 17 intersection (McDonalds Intersection) in Windom, Minnesota, on County Road 17. The office is on the East side of Wolf Lake not to be confused with the MN DNR Area office on the West side of Wolf Lake on County Road 26.

Windom lies in the scenic Des Moines River valley of southwestern Minnesota, at the intersections of highway 60 which runs from Worthington to Mankato and Highway 71 which runs from Jackson to Redwood Falls.
