Refuge Facts

  • The refuge also manages a 24,000 acre wetland management district, and a 160 acre tract of the Northern Tallgrass Prairie National Wildlife Refuge.

FY 2012 Budget: not available at this time, however our base budget is strategically comprised of 75% staff salaries and 25% management capabilities.

Natural History

  • Union Slough is a 1,143 acre glaciated wetland

  • Remains of a pre-glacial riverbed
