The summer of 2009 has ushered in the third year of our Squaw Creek Junior Naturalist Program.  This program consists of free classes geared toward educating and entertaining children of grade school age and is held every Thursday throughout the summer at 6:30 pm. Participants may join us for any of our fourteen programs beginning the last Thursday of May and extend through the summer until the last Thursday of August. Feel free to drop in and attend any of our classes or even Officially Enroll in the program to earn a Certificate and become a Squaw Creek Junior Naturalist!

Requirements to become a Jr. Naturalist are as follows:

12/5-6  – Eagle Days

The Mound City Public Library is teaming up with Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge to strengthen our community and educate students on both books and ecology.  This six-week program begins September 17th and will meet at 4:00. The Oct 22 program "headin south" will begin at 12:30 and last until 2:00pm. Programs will be held at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.  Be prepared to learn and get dirty.  Please call the Mound City Public Library with any questions you might have about the program (660) 442-5700.
