Recreation and Education:
Boat Launches and a Nature Park
The settlement provided for construction of two boat launches, significant improvements to a third boat launch site, and creation of a nature park. These projects now provide recreational and educational opportunities for the public.
Edward M. Golson, Jr. Boat Launch and Nature Park: This new 4-lane boat launch facility and nature park at the end of Johnson Street in Bay City includes ample parking, boat preparation and tie-down lanes, an outdoor classroom, trails along the river and around a wetland and a boardwalk and observation decks to bring visitors over parts of the marsh.

Jones Road Boat Launch: Improvements to an existing boat ramp at the end of Jones Road on Saginaw Bay now provide better access for nearshore fishing and boating as well as a view of Saginaw Bay from an observation platform. A single lane ramp built of concrete slabs provides access for small boats. The observation platform is fully accessible. The following photos show what the ramp and platform looked like under construction during the winter of 2001-2002:

Cass Avenue Boat Launch: This new single-lane boat ramp at the end of Cass Avenue in Bay City includes a fishing and river overlook area.
