MV Baird - Stocking the Great Lakes

The M/V Spencer F. Baird is the Service's largest vessel and assists Fish and Wildlife Service biologists in stocking hatchery-raised lake trout into the Great Lakes. Spend a day with staff from the Alpena Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office (FWCO) and the captain and crew of the M/V Spencer F. Bair during the spring stocking season. The Alpena FWCO is also responsible for native species and aquatic habitat restoration, invasive species control and other fishery conservation activities in Lake Huron, western Lake Erie and connecting waterways.
