Educators, group leaders, and families will find outstanding programs and facilities at the refuge. The Prairie Learning Center features a 13,000 sq ft exhibit hall especially designed and equipped for schools and groups of all ages. Other facilities include an orientation theater, a laboratory-classroom, multi-purpose meeting rooms, a media resource center, and a book store operated by the Friends of the Prairie Learning Center.

An extensive interpreted trail network and outdoor activity area truly make the Refuge a "Prairie Learning Center".

A 200-unit curriculum on prairie and oak savanna -- called Project Bluestem -- has been developed by Refuge staff and educators from around the state. The K-12 interdisciplinary curriculum is available on CD-Rom and is designed for Refuge or school-site learning. Pre and post-activities, as well as graphics and worksheets ready for photocopying, are included.

One- and two-day Project Bluestem workshops are held at the Refuge throughout the year. Some training dates offer graduate and teaching credits. For future workshop dates, contact the refuge.
