Final Environmental Assessment and Fire Management Plan for Seney National Wildlife Refuge

The final Environmental Assessment (EA) for adopting a Fire Management Plan (FMP) for Seney National Wildlife Refuge was signed on April 17, 2003 and is available below.   The Proposed Alternative (C) was selected which divides the Refuge into three units for fire management purposes and will allow prescribed fire on 62,578 acres.  Some naturally ignited fires may be permitted to burn in two of the units, including the Wilderness Area.  Firebreaks will be established along certain boundaries of the Refuge to ensure that fires could be contained within the Refuge.

The final EA and FMP are provided below along with the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).  Printed copies of either document are also available at the Refuge headquarters at Seney National Wildlife Refuge, 1674 Refuge Entrance Road, Seney, Michigan 49883 or can be requested by telephone:  (906) 586-9851.
