How You Can Help Birds
STEP 1: Support Habitat for Migratory and Resident Birds by Investing in a Federal Duck Stamp! Why buy a Federal Duck Stamp? Duck Stamps are extremely cost-effective: fully 98 cents out of every dollar ($14.70) goes directly to acquire land for the National Wildlife Refuge System. The Refuges provide habitat for not only migratory birds but also other resident wildlife. This $15 purchase is perhaps the single simplest thing one can do to support a legacy of wetland and grassland conservation for birds. The Junior Duck Stamp, which costs $5, raises money for environmental education programs that nurture future conservationists. A new Federal Duck Stamp product – the Gulf of Mexico Wetland Commemorative Silk Cachet – is now available for purchase to help raise money for the restoration of Gulf Coast wetlands impacted by the Deepwater Horizon MC 252 Oil Spill. The funds raised will be used to enhance and provide alternative habitats for migrating birds outside of the oil spill affected areas. The Gulf of Mexico Wetland Commemorative Silk Cachet, along with the Federal Duck Stamp, Junior Duck Stamp, and related products, can be purchased online at www.duckstamp.com. STEP 2: Volunteer!
