Bald Eagle Permit: Non-Purposeful Take

Application and Fee Schedule

(50 CFR Part 22.26)

The information on this page pertains to a "non-purposeful take" permit. This permit authorizes the non-purposeful take of live bald eagles and their eggs, where the take is associated with, but not the purpose of a human activity or project, and where take cannot practicably be avoided. Authorization is subject to conditions to minimize impacts. The regulation authorizing non-purposeful take permits for bald eagles can be found in the Code of the Federal Register 50 CFR 22.26.

We recommend that you contact the eagle biologist in your area before submitting an application. Contact information for the eagle biologists is at the bottom of this page.

To complete your application be prepared to:

 

• Identify the specific activities that will result in take
• Quantify impacts to eagles
• Develop and document avoidance and minimization procedures
• Develop a monitoring and reporting program
• Provide compensatory mitigation, if necessary
• Consider other applicable laws and regulations
• Submit application processing fee
