Marbled Godwits are large, high profile shorebirds that breed in the northern grasslands of the United States and southern Canada. They breed in tall grass prairie portions of the Prairie Pothole Region. Their diet consists of aquatic insects, grasshoppers, and mollusks.

Areas of Concern:

  • Its estimated global population is relatively small (140,000-200,000 birds).
  • Its population trends and ecology are poorly understood.
  • Significant habitat loss or degradation appears to be eroding much of its breeding and wintering ranges.
