Volunteer With Us!

Holding Lake SturgeonThe USFWS - La Crosse Fishery Resource Office needs volunteers like you to help us manage our valuable fishery resource! Volunteers should be at least 15 years of age or be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are needed to work with lake sturgeon, paddlefish, Higgins' eye and winged mapleleaf mussels (endangered species), and many other species of fish and mussels.

Netting Lake SturgeonVolunteers may have the opportunity to sample populations of fish by netting, electrofishing, and trapping. There are also many other fulfilling projects to help with including fishing dayswith children and veterans. Volunteers are invited to a banquet mid winter in appreciation for their efforts. If interested in volunteering with the La Crosse FRO, contact Scott Yess Scott_Yess@fws.gov (608) 783-8432.
