Office Goals

Recover fish and mussel populations protected under the Endangered Species Act and restore declining populations before they require listing
Maintain diverse, self-sustaining fish and other aquatic resource populations and habitats
Prevent new introductions and minimize range expansion of aquatic nuisance species
Enhance recreational fishing opportunities on Service and Department of Defense lands

Activity Highlights

Conduct status reviews for pallid sturgeon and other aquatic resource populations and implement actions identified in the Pallid Sturgeon Recovery Plan
Work with states and other partners to eliminate or reduce the threats causing declines to native fish and mussel populations
Work with states and other federal agencies to monitor the status of paddlefish and shovelnose sturgeon
Facilitate the prevention and control of aquatic nuisance species and conduct outreach and education activities to raise public awareness of aquatic nuisance species problems
