eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)
On August 9, 2007, the bald eagle was removed from the federal list of threatened and endangered species. Therefore, it is no longer protected under the Endangered Species Act and Section 7 consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is not necessary. However, the bald eagle remains protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
