New FY 2008 Public Use Activity Summary (pdf - 642 Kb)

Background

Recreational fishingAs the population of the US continues to grow, the potential for adverse impacts on aquatic resources, including habitat, will increase. At the same time, demands for responsible, quality recreational fishing experiences will also increase. The Service has a long tradition of providing opportunities for public enjoyment of aquatic resources through recreational fishing, habitat restoration, and educational programs.

The Alpena FWCO coordinates and conducts Public Use activities through all of the station programs. All Alpena FWCO programs benefit public use by restoring fisheries and their habitats, combating invasive species, and providing educational programs.

For recent information on station activities related to Public Use, review our monthly station newsletter.
