Background
Partnerships are essential for effective fisheries conservation. The Alpena FWCO coordinates and conducts Partnership and Accountability activities through all of the station's programs. Partnerships exist with federal, state, international, county, and local governmental agencies and with non-governmental organizations and universities.
The station is involved in a number of on-going lake-wide partnerships and with more focused short term research and management projects.
Examples of lake-wide partnerships include participation on the following committees:
Great Lakes Fishery Commission's - Lake Huron Technical Committee Michigan Stream Team St. Marys River Fishery Task GroupThe Habitat and Ecosystem Health Program is involved in a number of partnerships with local, state, county, and federal government agencies and also non-governmental organizations in the restoration of stream habitat and fish passage. Staff are involved and provide assistance on the following watershed committees:
