The Mid-Columbia River Fishery Resource Office is located in Leavenworth, Washington on the grounds of the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. A sub office is located in Yakima, Washington. The office meets U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service goals and responsibilities in the Columbia River basin from the Yakima River in the south to the Canadian border including the Yakima, Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan, Methow, and Okanogan basins.  

Primary Areas of Work

  1. Hatchery evaluation and planning for Leavenworth, Entiat, and Winthrop National Fish Hatcheries.
  2. Native fish and habitat assessment and monitoring with a focus on spring Chinook salmon, steelhead, bull trout, and Pacific lamprey.
  3. Conservation and recovery planning and implementation as part of interagency teams.
  4. Restoration programs for aquatic and riparian habitats.
  5. Yakima River watershed issues and tribal trust responsibilities.

News

  • The Mid-Columbia River Fishery Resource Office was realigned to be part of the Leavenworth Fisheries Complex in 2010. The Complex also includes the Leavenworth, Entiat, and Winthrop National Fish Hatcheries.
