| Volunteering: Five Refuges with over 78,000 acres of wildlife habitat on the Complex takes a tremendous amount of work, dedication, and old-fashioned sweat to maintain and keep open for public use and educational programs. We depend on our volunteers to get the job done! From staffing the McNary Environmental Education Center, helping with waterfowl and shorebird surveys, building and maintaining birdhouses, and assisting with educational programs, the accomplishments of our many and talented crew of volunteers is truly phenomenal. This year, as we celebrate our sixth annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner (see below and watch here for more details!), we will be reminded once again just how important our volunteers are. Volunteers - helping wildlife . . . helping people. |
