Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge - Titusville, Florida

Waterfowl Hunting 2007 - 2008

ATTENTION WATERFOWL HUNTERS

Hunter check stations will be in operation on all hunt days during the 2007-2008 season. At the completion of your hunt each day, you are required to check-in at one of the two check stations.

Locations:

  1. Intersection of US 1 and Kennedy Parkway (SR3)
  2. SR 406 at the Refuge Entrance near Titusville.

Shiloh Marsh Road and L Pond Road are closed annually to motor vehicles from November 1 - February 15. This is to reduce disturbance to winter waterfowl. Individuals may enter by foot to birdwatch or fish from the road during this close period.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The State has opened a Light Goose Season state-wide in Florida. Please notice, this does not apply to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (MINWR). MINWR has been opened to hunting Ducks and Coots Only. This does not include Goose Hunting. Based on polices of the Agency and the National Environmental Policy Act, the Refuge must go through a series of steps prior to opening a refuge to a new use, including hunting a new species. Hunting of Light Geese has not been approved and is prohibited at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge at this time.
