Currituck and Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuges Announce Public Hunting Opportunities
Refuge Manager Mike Hoff announced today that hunting permits are available for Mackay Island and Currituck National Wildlife Refuges. Mackay Island Refuge offers six three-day deer hunts. The first hunt is scheduled for October 3-5. The required free permit may be picked up at the refuge office, refuge kiosk, or downloaded from http://www.fws.gov/southeast/pubs/mckhnt.pdf. Nearby Currituck Refuge allows deer hunting during the month of October and feral pig hunting during the months of October and March. Permits to hunt on Currituck Refuge are not limited but are by application only and cost $15. For information contact the refuge office or visit http://www.fws.gov/currituck/BigGameApp.html.
