Hunting of big game, small game, and waterfowl is permitted during designated seasons. White-tail deer, Osceola turkeys, and feral hogs are the most sought-after species. Hunting license and state required stamps (not WMA stamps) are required in accordance with State regulations. All hunts are free, but you must possess a free Refuge Hunt Brochure. One hundred doe tags will be available in October for a free Limited Youth Gun Hunt. See the brochure or Check with Refuge headquarters for additional hunt information.
The Refuge Hunter Working Group Meeting is held annually after Spring Gobbler. It will be held May 4th 2013, at 10:00 AM in the Refuge headquarters off of highway 347, a mile south of Fowler's Bluff and 19 miles north of Cedar Key. For more information, call the Ranger at 352/493-0238, ext 223.
