Visitor Opportunities

All Waterfowl Production Areas are open to hunting and trapping; and by permit for wildlife observation, photography, and environmental study. You are encouraged to explore the prairie world of the WPA's. Please remember, all motorized vehicles are restricted to section line roads or trails. Camping is not permitted on the WPA's and there are few opportunities for fishing.

Ruddy Duck

Lake Zahl National Wildlife Refuge is open to archery hunting for white-tailed deer and late season upland bird hunting for pheasant, grouse, and partridge. Permission from the landowner must be obtained before hunting or using easement lands.
