INTERNATIONAL
MIGRATORY BIRD DAY |
|||
| Set on the second Saturday in May, International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) is an invitation to scheduled and support migratory bird conservation. Like any day of recognition, IMBD exists to focus attention on a valuable resource - the nearly 350 species of migratory birds that travel between nesting habitats in North America and non-breeding grounds in South and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Learn more about this day at http://birds.fws.gov/imbd.html | |||
| Participants will learn about the shorebirds, wading birds, and waterfowl that utilize Long Lake National Wildlife Refuge as a stopover site, or breeding ground. There will be a short presentation, followed by a field trip to view some of Long Lake's wetland-dependent birds, learn identification tips, and discuss their habitats. | |||
