Volunteers
The Little Pend Oreille
NWR welcomes your input as a volunteer. Whether you are interested
in interpretation, environmental education, resource management,
maintenance, or administration, we can use your help. Please contact
us if you are interested in volunteering.
Wanted Refuge Weed Warriors:
Dedicated persons needed
to volunteer and to coordinate volunteers interested in identification,
prevention, control and eradication of noxious weeds on the Refuge.
Personal benefits include: plant ID skills, introduction to National
Invasive Plant Species crisis, basic GPS skills, knowledge that
can be used anywhere (home, community, Refuge), a space to park
a summer RV residence, and an opportunity to make a difference.
Requirements: interpersonal
skills, computer skills will be helpful, ability to drive standard/automatic
vehicle, comfortable with outdoor physical work on rough and varied
terrain (bending knees and hiking) for extended periods of time,
commitment of time: May through September.

Wanted Maintenance Volunteer:
Full RV hook-up in a
"gated community" for approx. 32 hours per week of maintenance
adventures which will include: Campground clean up and public contact;
Leaflet patrol; Roadside clean-up; Lawn mowing and irrigating; "Go-for"
jobs to town; Office clean-up and telephone duty.

The Friends of the Little
Pend Oreille NWR helped staff a booth at the local fair-educating
the public about the Refuge and seeking members for the Friends
group.
