Winthrop's Update :

Spring Chinook Salmon

Brood Year 2006

Although BKD-related mortalities increased by 1,400 fish from last month’s reporting, overall this group continued to do very well.  A fifth BKD-infected pond was identified towards the end of the month, which brought the totals up to two ponds in C-bank, one in D-bank, and two in E-bank.  Hatchery staff took length samples during the monthly fish sampling conducted on the 28th, which revealed a population with a condition factor of 4.60 and an average length of 110 millimeters (N = 281; SD = 7.88; SE = 0.47; CV = 7.13%).  The water source for this lot was 50% river water and 50% ground water.

Olympia fish Heath Center reported good overall health. Overall mortality continued to remain low on this group of fish. Hatchery staff took length samples during the monthly fish sampling conducted on the 28th, which revealed an average length of 110 mm / 4.33 in.  The water source for this lot was 50% river water and 50% ground water.

The water source for this lot was 60% river water and 40% ground water.
