Celebrate National Fishing and Boating Day 2008

Winthrop National Fish Hatchery kids fishing day 2007Join us for a great time celebrating National Fishing and Boating Week in June 2008. The Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery Complex provides three kids’ fishing events that combine fun and education. Smiles and fish stories grow each year! We appreciate the dedication given us by many volunteers and families from each of the many clubs, organizations and individuals who help us make these events wonderful. Come to Leavenworth, Entiat or Winthrop and catch the big one!

Every year we create stewards for our future fisheries while making kids aware of our natural resources by offering community fishing days. Each hatchery offers their own event to celebrate the National Fishing Week in June.

Entiat National Fish Hatchery will host their fishing event on Saturday, June 7th. Kids up to 13 years of age may bring their own fishing pole or borrow one from the hatchery. There is a two fish limit. Enjoy a walk on the Red Willow trail which begins right next to Brock Pond. If you have questions, you may call Entiat National Fish Hatchery at (509) 784-1131.

Winthrop National Fish Hatchery fishing day will be hosted on Saturday, June 14th. After having a passport stamped by various learning activities, kids up to 13 years old may head to the pond with a fishing pole to try their luck at catching a rainbow trout. Prizes are awarded for tagged fish, but the fun is in hooking a fish and bringing it ashore. You may call Winthrop National Fish Hatchery at (509) 996-2424 with any questions.

Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery will host its fourth annual Fishing Kids event with the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation and the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife. Join us Saturday, June 7th for an educational fun fishing time. Kids ages 5-14 must register to get a fishing time, T-shirt and a rod & reel combo. To register, go to Fishing Kids to download a registration form or pick one up from Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee. Walk-ins are welcome to join us for learning opportunities and to catch two fish after 12 o'clock. Cascade Discovery School will be selling lunch concessions.
