Renewable Resources Extension Act
This Act, Renewable Resources Extension Act 95-306, approved June 30, 1978; 16 U.S.C.
1671-1676; 92 Stat. 349, amended January 5, 1988, P.L. 100-231, 101 Stat. 1565), provides
a Congressional mandate strengthening the capability of the Department of Agriculture's
Cooperative Extension Service, land grant universities, and cooperating counties to work with
renewable resources, including fish, wildlife, and water resources, on private forest and range
lands. Requires the Secretary to prepare a 5-year plan and revise and submit such plan to
Congress every five years.
The law authorizes an appropriation of $15 million per year through fiscal year 2000 to the
Secretary of Agriculture for distribution to the States for renewable resource public education
programs. The funds will be distributed according to the productive capacity of each State's
forests and rangelands and on the basis of each State's need for such resources.
