Comprehensive Conservation Plan

PROJECT PROFILE

Purpose of CCP:

As part of the National Wildlife Refuge System, Lake Woodruff NWR is required to have a CCP in place to guide the management of fish, wildlife, plants, habitats, and public uses for a period of 15 years.

Current Status:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is developing a Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) and associated NEPA documents for Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge (NWR).

An overview of the CCP process is provided in Planning Update 1
(posted to the left).

Public scoping began in late 2006, and a public meeting was held at the Volusia County Agricultural Center on September 7, 2006.  A summary of the public comments is listed in Planning Update 2 (posted to the left).

In addition to the public scoping, the refuge performed an environmental assessment (EA) to develop and analyze management alternatives associated with development of the CCP.  Information concerning the EA can be found in Planning Update 3.

The Draft CCP/EA is available for public comment (for details see Planning Update 4 posted to the left).

Public Review of Draft CCP/EA:

The public comment period has begun and will end on Friday, May 23, 2008.  You can review the document online at: http://www.fws.gov/southeast/planning/
