
The Lake Andes Wildlife Refuge is one of a system of over 515 refuges administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. National Wildlife Refuges are managed to protect endangered plants and animals, to provide for the needs of migratory birds, to preserve a natural diversity and to furnish places for people to understand and enjoy wildlife.
The Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge office may be reached by traveling two miles north and one mile west of Ravinia, South Dakota.
Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Consult the Refuge Manager for current regulations. Modern camping facilities are maintained by the Corps of Engineers at Fort Randall Dam near Pickstown, South Dakota. Restaurants and motels are available in Lake Andes, Wagner, and Pickstown.
