Opening Weekend Waterfowl Hunting Application for
Controlled Hunts on Tule Lake & Lower Klamath Refuges, California

In order to hunt Tule Lake and Lower Klamath (CA side) Refuges during the first two days of the hunt season, you must apply and be successfully drawn. Each year approximately 3000 hunters apply for the limited number of openings.

Important Information

  • PLEASE USE ATTACHED APPLICATION. Post cards or information written on other than the current application will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete and illegible applications will be REJECTED
  • MAKE SURE ALL ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT
  • Hunters may be named on one application ONLY and may NOT apply for the Klamath Basin Refuge Hunts if they have also applied for the first weekend hunts on Modoc Refuge.
  • The First Named Person will be notified by mail during the second week of September of draw results. If State Hunting License Numbers were provided, those numbers for the first named hunter will be posted on the hunt page of the website at the completion of the drawing.
  • Opening weekend permits, Annual Recreaton Passes and Golden Age/Access Passports must be carried in the field. Please check expiration dates on Recreation Passes and renew if necessary. Recreation Passes are sold at the Refuge Visitor Center and with vendors around the local area.
  • Junior hunters (15 years of age and under) will not be charged a fee, but must be accompanied by a permit holder over 18 and carry a Junior Hunter License while hunting.
  • To qualify for Golden Age or Golden Access discounts, hunters must provide evidence that they possess these cards. No refunds will be given to hunters who fail to obtain these documents prior to applying for the first weekend hunt,
  • Hunters drawn for the first weekend hunt must hunt the areas for which they were drawn. THIS INCLUDES SUMP 1B.

Instructions

  • List your party's first (1) and second (2) preference for the first weekend hunts: Lower Klamath Wetlands, Lower Klamath Grain Fields, Tule Lake Grain Fields, Tule Lake Marsh / Sump 1B
  • List the name, CORRECT MAILING ADDRESS and telephone number for each member (four maximum) of your party. New this year is the option to include your hunting license number, to be used to post draw results on the webpage. This is optional not mandatory.
  • Up to two junior hunters may accompany parties with permits. DO NOT list junior hunters on this application.
  • A non-refundable application fee os $3.00 for each hunter listed must be enclosed with this application. You must submit a single check for all members of your group. Make check or money order payable to U.S.Fish & Wildlife Service. Do not send cash.

 

This application must be postmarked August 1 to August 15, 2009
