Natural History Association

Kīlauea Point Natural History Association (KPNHA) is a nonprofit cooperating association, founded in 1984, prior to the designation of the National Wildlife Refuge. During the transfer of Kīlauea Point in 1985 from the U.S. Coast Guard to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Association provided invaluable support. Since its inception, KPNHA has been a strong and productive organization. KPNHA maintains a small store in the Visitor Center where visitors can purchase books, t-shirts, maps, and other momentos. The Association has generated considerable funding, which has been used to promote wildlife and historical interpretation as well as environmental education at Kilauea Point and throughout the state. The Association is currently working to restore the Kīlauea Lighthouse.
