Applying for a Grant
WHEN TO SUBMIT October 1 and April 1 of each year WHO CAN APPLY
Applicants must submit a proposed project where work occurs within the range of the Marine Turtle, or, if work is to be conducted outside of the range, the proposal should show a clear relevance to Marine Turtle conservation. Applied research projects should address specific management needs and actions. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL Applicants must read the complete Notice of Funding Availability, which contains complete application instructions. HOW TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION: Applicants should make every effort to consolidate all required elements of their proposal into one file that can be submitted electronically to MSCF_MarineTurtle@fws.gov All PDF files should be unlocked and not password protected. If you send multiple messages due to file size restriction, clearly identify your proposal and assign a number incrementally as compared to the total number of messages you will send (Example: 3 out of 4) in the subject line of each message. *Please do not submit additional support materials such as reports, newsletters, DVDs, t-shirts, etc. without prior approval. PROPOSALS FROM U.S. APPLICANTS MUST ALSO INCLUDE:
Failure to provide complete information, as outlined above, may cause delays, postponement or rejection of a grant application. WHERE Priority will be given to projects that enhance conservation of 6 of the 7 recognized species of marine turtles listed as threatened or endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Please see NOFA for more information. WHY In 2004 Congress passed the Marine Turtle Conservation Act in response to the alarming decline. The Act provides for the establishment of the Marine Turtle Conservation Fund to provide financial assistance to support projects that will enhance sustainable conservation programs to ensure effective, long-term conservation of Marine Turtles.
