- The Louis Agassiz Fuertes collection of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service is stored at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Cornell University describes him as "the nation's most notable ornithological painter since Audubon."
The Service owns 220 paintings by Fuertes, and about a dozen are online. (See also the
report of the 1899 Harriman Expedition). The art is
not normally on display, but is exhibited on special occasions. You can find other major collections of Louis
Agassiz Fuertes art at Cornell and the New York State Museum.
- Since 1934, artists have designed Federal Duck
Stamps.
- Watercolors by Duane Raver, such as the largemouth bass below, have been digitized and are available via the Image Library.
