Huron Wetland Management District
Mountain-Prairie Region
Outdoor Education

Structured educational programs are available for schools, community groups, and professional groups. Please contact District staff for more information. The Huron Wetland Management District is assisted with many of their outreach events by the Maga Ta-Hohpi Friends Group. Large annual outreach events such as "Prairie Fest", "Outdoor Expo", and "Creatures of the Night" would not be possible to conduct without the assistance of the District's Friends Group. A list of upcoming events on the Management District can be found on the Friend's Group website, Friends Group Facebook page or the Huron Chamber of Commerce website. Additional outreach education events conducted by the FWS staff and the Friends Group include: Wildlife Photography workshop, Landscape Watercolor Workshop, Dutch Oven Cooking, Winter Wildlife Tracking, Huron Middle School 6th grade Field Trips, and a Landscaping for Wildlife Workshop.

Exhibits are available in the visitor center portion of the District office in the Federal building during business hours Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm excluding Federal Holidays. A wetland prairie diorama that showcases the changes to prairie wetlands through out the seasons is a highlight of the visitor center. Pamphlets and posters are free to the public. A wetland and grassland educational trunk for educators, videos and other educational materials may be borrowed for short periods of time.
