Directions to HBNWR Headquarters at the Salmon Creek Unit:
Take Exit 696 off Highway 101
If northbound turn left and go west over the overpass and take the first right, then follow the entrance road north and west ~1.3 miles to the Headquarters.
If southbound turn right and then immediately left onto the entrance road and proceed ~1.3 miles north and west to the Headquarters.

Directions: Lanphere and Ma-le'l Dunes are located at the upper end of the North Spit of Humboldt Bay, west of Mad River Slough. Parking is limited, call 707-822-6378. To schedule a walk call Friends of the Dunes, 707-444-1397.

Castle Rock Map

Directions: Castle Rock is about a half mile offshore from Crescent City, 80 miles north of Humboldt Bay. The refuge is closed to the public but you can observe wildlife activity on Castle Rock with a spotting scope from Pebble Beach Drive. In addition, video footage of seabirds on the island may be viewed at the Redwood National Park visitor center located at 1111 2nd Street in Crescent City.
