Severe flooding at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge

Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, on Assateague Island, and nearby Chincoteague Island in Virginia experienced extensive flooding during Hurricane Sandy. As trees are cleared and conditions become safe, refuge managers and engineers will assess conditions on the ground. It is too early to know the full extent of the damage.
