Jr Duck Stamp
Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program and Contest - Conservation Through the Arts!
Deadline: March 15th
Do you know a student in grades K-12? Teach them about ducks and their habitat through scientific observation and art. Students throughout Pennsylvania are invited to submit their artwork to John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. All entrants will receive certificates of participation and top winners will receive special ribbons. National Junior Duck Stamp Contest top winners are awarded cash prizes. Stamps, featuring the national winning artwork, are sold by the US Postal Service and at Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Proceeds from the sale of the stamps go toward youth conservation education. Gloves

Darby Creek Clean-Up
Saturday, April 21, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Come out to our annual Darby Creek Clean-up Day! Meet at the Visitors Center or at the Route 420 parking lot. Wear outdoor clothing appropriate for weather, sturdy boots, and work gloves if you have them. Extra gloves and trash bags will be provided. The clean-up activity will be followed by a free lunch. This is a great opportunity for scouts and community or business groups to provide a much-needed service to benefit all of us who utilize our precious refuge. Astronomy & Wildlife Night - Things are looking UP at Heinz National Wildlife Refuge

Did you know that biologists can count migrating birds by looking at the moon? Join Philadelphia Science Festival Astronomers and Wildlife experts from Heinz National Wildlife Refuge to learn about observing stars and nocturnal wildlife! This event is family friendly and free! Introducing the myRefuge App Featuring John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge
The Refuge System launched the myRefuge App available through the Apple Store. The new mobile application is for iPhones, iPods and iPads and it provides instant information on bird watching, trails and historic sites on national wildlife refuges. It launched with information on 42 refuges, including John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, and can be downloaded for FREE for a limited time. Click here to learn more.

Caution Caution! Refuge Trail Improvements and Repairs are Scheduled
Please note that due to the recent flooding at the refuge certain trails and areas may have restricted access until repairs are completed. Please check in at the Visitor Center for updated trail closures and detours. As always, follow regulations on all posted signs.
